14th SOTEN Day Celebration

Introduction:

The 14th SOTEN Day Celebration was held on 7th July 2023 at Hotel Marriott in Naxal, Kathmandu. This annual event, organized by the Society of Transport Engineers Nepal, brought together transport professionals, engineers and policymakers to celebrate achievements of SOTEN and share knowledge and experiences. The event was honored to have the presence of the Honorable Minister from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Prakash Jwala as the Chief Guest.

 

Event Highlights:

  1. Chief Guest Address: The event was addressed by the Honorable Minister from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Prakash Jwala who highlighted the government's commitment to improving transportation infrastructure. He also congratulated us for this milestone and wished our prosperity in near future. He also emphasized on the importance of collaboration between the government, industry, and professionals in driving advancements in the transportation sector.
  2. Presentation on SOTEN Activities: Er. Hemant Tiwari, the General Secretary of SOTEN, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the activities and initiatives undertaken by SOTEN. The presentation highlighted the organization's efforts in promoting excellence in transportation engineering, conducting research, organizing technical events and workshops.
  3. Brief Presentation on 2nd International Conference: Dr. Surya Raj Acharya, a prominent transportation expert and SOTEN Executive member, presented a brief presentation on the 2nd International Conference on Integrated Transport for Sustainable Mobility organized by SOTEN on 3rd and 4th February 2023 which brought together experts and researchers to discuss on achieving sustainable mobility through integrated transport systems
  4. Felicitation: The event included a special felicitation ceremony to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of transportation engineering. Former SOTEN President Dr. Tulasi Prasad Sitaula and Senior Fellow Member Er. Birendra Bahadur Deoja were felicitated for their exceptional leadership and contributions to the sector. The felicitation ceremony acknowledged their achievements and recognized their valuable contributions.

Conclusion:

The 14th SOTEN Day Celebration held at Hotel Marriott, Naxal, Kathmandu, successfully brought together transportation professionals and engineers. The event achieved its objectives of celebrating 14th SOTEN Day with presence of Honorable Minister from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Prakash Jwala.

The presence of the Honorable Minister as the Chief Guest added significance to the event, highlighting the government's commitment to advancing transportation infrastructure. The Chief Guest delivered his words of appreciation towards SOTEN and expressed his wishes for the growth of SOTEN. The presentations by Er. Hemant Tiwari and Dr. Surya Raj Acharya provided valuable insights into SOTEN's activities and the 2nd International Conference on Integrated Transport for Sustainable Mobility, respectively. The felicitation ceremony honored the exceptional leadership and contributions of Dr. Tulasi Prasad Sitaula and Er. Birendra Bahadur Deoja. The 14th SOTEN Day Celebration served as a platform for participants to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and establish collaborations.
